Savannah Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed by many Savannah liposuction qualified surgeons to REFINE your figure. People who think liposuction is a weight loss method are mistaken, and they cannot use it instead of traditional methods of reducing weight.

Patients do not lose a lot of weight during the procedure and not a large quantity of fat is actually removed from the body. The great thing about liposuction is that the surgeon can use it to remove fat from targeted areas of the body that are often resistant to efforts to lose weight in patients who have, overall, already taken off a lot of pounds.

Surgeons commonly use liposuction to target fat in the hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, chin and neck, love handles and stomach and many other specific areas. Even with vigorous exercise fat in these areas often will not go away and the patient must rely on the surgeon to make the final adjustments. During the procedure Savannah liposuction surgeons use equipment that lets them change the contour of the body by removing fat from these specific areas.

By using a suction device, the surgeon is able to literally vacuum out the fat from the problem areas. Liposuction is usually used on women patients but, more and more, men are using the procedure to reduce breast size. Many Savannah liposuction surgeons have stated that this procedure is always most successful on patients that have firm, elastic skin and small, concentrated pockets of fat in cellultite areas.

This is because the skin needs to contract around the newly reduced area and conform to the new contours to really look good. Since skin needs to be elastic on good liposuction candidates, older people with less elastic skin may not be recommended to have the procedure.

Recovery time depends on the size of the treated area, but patients can usually expect to be back to their normal routine within one to two weeks. After that, a full recovery from the effects of surgery will usually take a few months. During the first few weeks of recovery, a compression garment is often worn.

Ultrasound Assisted Liposculpture Surgery

The newest liposuction variant is a procedure called Ultrasound-assisted Liposculpture, often referred to by its abbreviation "UAL". In UAL a probe is used that produces a high frequency ultrasonic sound. The fat cells next to the sound emitting UAL probe are actually liquified and then removed by suction.

Using this technique, larger amounts of fat can be removed since there is much less tissue damage and bleeding. There is also less bruising than with traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction sometimes produces irregularities in the contours of the treated areas, but this is much less likely with UAL.

However, due to the nature of the UAL probe, this procedure can only be done on certain areas of the body and you should check with your surgeon to see if you can use this technique. The UAL technique can also be more expensive, since the equipment costs significantly more than the traditional type. Early UAL machines of the first two generations have been linked to cases of skin damage caused by overly powerful sound waves, but third and later generations do not have this problem.

After you have determined which of the Savannah liposuction surgeons (or one in your area) will do your surgery, they might recommdn a combination of techniques in your case.
